World Stroke Day is celebrated on October 29 every year. Like other countries, the International Stroke Association has been celebrating October 29 every year in Bangladesh.
Stroke is the third leading cause of death worldwide. Stroke occurs when the blood supply to the brain is disrupted for any reason. This blood supply to the brain is disrupted, especially when blood vessels close or rupture. Blood contains oxygen and nutrients.As a result, the brain tissues die due to lack of oxygen. The biggest cause of stroke is hypertension. One person in the world is having a stroke every 6 seconds. 6 crore people are being infected and 2 crore people are dying every year. One and a half crore people are being crippled due to stroke. 1 in 6 people is at risk of having a stroke. Forty percent of stroke victims die, and 30 percent are paralyzed.They live miserable lives. Stroke is the leading cause of death for one-third of Americans. The rate of stroke is increasing day by day. In many cases, the number of people infected with the disease is increasing due to lack of awareness.
There are now 15 to 20 lakh stroke patients in Bangladesh. World Stroke Day is celebrated on October 29 every year to raise public awareness about stroke. Although there are no separate stroke association activities in Bangladesh yet, the day is organized by the Bangladesh Neurology Association.
